Overall this article is pretty bad. Imagine hating the best thing Disney has done with the Muppets post-buyout since the 2010s movie duology (I know you said some stuff in the last paragraph, but you probably did that to save face, and that's not working).

1. Where were you when any of the previous pieces of Muppets media treated the women guest stars/Muppets as eye candy and/or when the women guest stars/Muppets were presented as stereotypically feminine without any subversions? In fact, where were you when the special was released in February?

It’s Sabrina Carpenter who functions as a marketing bridge and signal. Not only does she bring her fanbase (and a very dedicated one at that) to the Muppets, but she also tells audiences that the Muppets are actually current and popular. This is where the problem arises. There is nothing new about the show, for it completely mirrors the old Muppet Show: musical performance, celebrity guest, comedy – and so, the revival demonstrates how contemporary media prioritises the circulation of familiar nostalgic content, rather than genuine experimentation, which is becoming increasingly rare and difficult for numerous reasons, one of those being big conglomerates like Disney.

Sabrina Carpenter, as we all know, is one of the most popular pop faces in Western culture at the moment. But for this argument, I will be using her not as a person, but a constructed identity – because that is what her persona is. She has a carefully managed image (think of her appearance, humour, or even media presence) which is inherently tied to her desirability and relatability. Her pop image is designed to be consumed on access platforms. But what a contrast to the World of the Muppets. Extremely chaotic, absurd, historically male-dominated, and deliberately disrupted – so where does Sabrina fit into all of this?

Again, where were you when any of the previous pieces of Muppets media had people that were considered "hip" at the time? The original 70s TV show had an episode featuring Star Wars characters around the time that The Empire Strikes was released for Pete's sake!

If she's outgoing and quirky, then she's a manic pixie dream girl. If she's reserved and classy, then she's a stereotype. Any sexualization is both empowering and a symptom of the patriarchy.

Truth is she's a grown woman who makes her own decisions. Stop attributing every aspect of female celebrities as contrived by men. They have the agency to live their lives the way they want, stop trying to take that away from them to build some false narrative about victimization.

Why do people who don't understand what they're writing about get so pompous? The Muppets haven't been "gone for 45 years". The charm and chaos of them is that they are using the vaudeville/variety show trope to crack jokes and comment on the here and now. Celebrity guest stars get to come along for the ride because they are of the moment. NOT because The Muppets need them, but their ephemeral need to stay connected to a mass public that The Muppets own.

A common critique is that only male white philosophers were referenced in the book, however no alternative philosophers that meet their suggested criteria were provided.

I would also suggest that it does tackle the practical aspects of anxiety in our lives because anxiety is a feeling and internal. A point dear reader appears to have not absorbed amongst the 208 pages.

Maybe if one were to step back and stop externally moralizing their feelings it would help.

Just finished The Witcher Season 4 and wow, the shift in tone is noticeable right away. The political tension across the Continent feels heavier, and the new direction for Geralt really changes the dynamic. It’s darker, more strategic less monster-of the week, more long-game storytelling.

A biopic about Michael Jackson is appropriate and warranted. I hope it depicts him and his life accurately and thoroughly, however.

What Michael Jackson’s legacy also needs is for his estate to release more of his unreleased songs. The estate can do this by including several of them in a soundtrack for the biopic. They can also release outtakes from the Invincible era on an Invincible album 25th anniversary reissue.

The only conclusion I can draw is that either the most dedicated Swifties on Earth or the label itself must have a lot of free time, because something has to explain those chart numbers. I guess nonstop bot streaming is easier than making an album people actually want to replay. And with how quickly AI can crank out code, it probably took more effort to pretend this album was good than to artificially boost it.

I listened once and genuinely thought, wow, this might be her lowest point. Not a single track stood out. It feels so bland and uninspired that I thought it had to be an early April Fools joke. At this point, people remixing the songs is the only thing making them remotely listenable. I’ll admit the Elizabeth Taylor BSB remix is great, but that just makes the rest look even weaker.

The film is reasonably made in cinephile terms, but short in terms of the intended realism and even in terms of the historical reality itself.
The first problem in my opinion is the choice of almost all the main casting! Since the effort and intrinsic qualities of the chosen actors are not at stake, I believe, however, that they are bad choices in terms of the psychological and even physical framework of the characters vs originals. For me Herman Goering would always be Joaquin Phoenix, his strange golden, reptilian look even by the evidence of the clearest, Teutonic eye, large forehead and pale skin would make more sense for the role. Russell Crowe sometimes looked more like the helpful and loyal servant Mister Bates of Downtown Abbey than the arrogant, ineffable, megalomaniac and self-centered Herman Goering. For Dr. Douglas Kelly, he would have chosen perhaps Oscar Isaac, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jeremy Strong or even Ryan Gosling. Any of these actors has enough prestige and density for the role. Ramy Malek is a good actor, he plays an hard-fought role but I think he is out of the Anglo-Saxon profile that the character demanded.
The third casting error concerns the role of Colonel Burton Andrus who should have gone perhaps to a Josh Brolin, Bryan Cranston or even Woody Harrelson.
Other issues with historical reality are always related to the commitments of adaptations, making the narrative more fluid and pleasant in a film that also intends to be a historical document always involves risky steps, which mislead new generations in relation to their own historical truth. In this case, there were flaws that, however, may be considered minor in relation to the main objective.

Wow. Just wow. Another NuWho fanatic who thinks the history of the show is useless cr@p. But that’s actually what they should emphasize more, not less. As for the show going away for a few years, that’s basically what it’s been doing for a while now. It takes so long between such dinky seasons. It’s pretty easy to forget it even exists. And being off the air for years does not guarantee that it would come back with what you consider to be fresh ideas. It would just make it easier not to come back at all.

I do think that RTD should leave as a writer. He’s probably the biggest problem now.

You ignore the fact that the show’s decline began during Moffat’s era when it became clear he had no interest in or idea how to write a proper Dr Who story. The same two or three regurgitated ideas, an absolute inability to write action, witless quips instead of dialogue. The show was on the ropes by the time he left and Chris Chibnall tried to turn it around but the damage was done and the audience had wandered off, drifting back occasionally but ultimately bored by a show that had burnt itself out. Moffat MUST take much of the blame for the show falling out of favour because he started it.
